As detailed in our press release, we are announcing the opening of a data center in Nagoya. Nagoya is the original birthplace of Clara Online. Since the founding of our company 14 years ago in Nagoya, we have met the infrastructure needs of many corporate and governmental clients in the Central Japan area. As of December 2010, we had already started offering the option of a Nagoya data center to some of our clients on a private basis. Now that we have streamlined the service, we are ready for its official public release in April 2011.
Some of you may remember that Clara Online provided a data center service in Nagoya until Autumn 2008. However, taking account of the increasingly ageing equipment of the facilities there, we decided to concentrate our offsite offerings in the Gifu region whilst intensifying mainsite facilities in Tokyo.
Recently, however, many customers from Nagoya increasingly voiced their desire for a data center in the city area of Nagoya. The reasons were varied, but the convenience of transport is a big advantage. Accordingly, we began to consider this service before offering it on a limited basis from the end of last year. In addition, we consolidated the equipment and structure of the Gifu center into the Nagoya center. It has now been fully integrated to Nagoya.
As well as offering offsite services to our clients, we also intend to use our Tokyo and Nagoya centers as a foundation for cloud services. Nagoya is more than 150 miles away from Tokyo and over 300 miles from the Fukushima nuclear power plant that is recently experiencing difficulties.
Additionally, in view of the current TEPCO power supply problems and our own internal contribution towards saving energy in the Kanto region(Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama), we are rapidly pursuing the placement of servers in our Nagoya data center.
